1280x1024 is the standard resolution on 19-inch desktop LCD monitors. The majority of these monitors have a physical 5:4 aspect ratio, avoiding any distortion. As LCD monitors come down in price, screen resolutions are going up. 1280x1024 is the most used resolution in 19-inch LCDs which seem to be the most common sized LCD monitor. Unfortunately, 19-inch monitors with an aspect ratio of 5:4 are generally rather expensive due to objective reasons. The apperance of Widecreen monitor , standard 19-inch LCD monitor are no more the mainstream monitor size. Although such products have been relegated to the bottom market segment, new models are still being released on a regular basis.
